Annual calculations are already computationally expensive due to the large number of time points to analyze, and in our experience the high-quality settings are more than sufficient for accurate results.
However, if you find that even with this default setting your results vary more than you would like (see also the answer to Q1), you can try the following:
- To reduce variation in final aggregate scores, reduce your grid point spacing.
- To reduce variance in illumination values at any given time point, set custom Radiance parameters. The following values would be considered “Very High” quality:
- Without blinds active:
- -MF = 4
- -ab = 8
- -ad = 32,768
- -lw = 0.0000001
- With blinds active:
- Indirect 3-phase:
- -MF = 2
- Daylight Matrix:
- -ab = 4
- -ad = 8192
- -c = 500
- View Matrix:
- -ab = 8
- -ad = 8192
- -lw = 0.0000001
- Direct 3-phase:
- -MF = 2
- Daylight Matrix
- -ad = 32,768
- -c = 500
- View Matrix
- -ad = 32,768
- -lw = 0.00001
- Direct Sun
- -MF = 6
- -ad = 8192
- -dc = 1
- -dj = 0
- -dt = 0
- -lw = 0.0000001
- -ss = 0
- -st = 1
- Indirect 3-phase:
- Without blinds active:
